I have never heard of Inspiration before, but I think the video was really cool. It seems like it could be very helpful for students and educators as well. The amount of technology incorporated into the program is amazing. My favorite thing about the video was the brainstorming diagram and how the program actually helps you with ideas. I also like how you can insert pictures, videos, music, and basically whatever you want into a diagram you are working on. Inspiration would be very convenient in a classroom. I have no idea why I have never heard of it before. I would use the program to make my lesson plans and help my students learn with the aid of technology.
There are several writing activities that would make good use of technology. One of the best activities would be powerpoint presentation where the student has to create a powerpoint based on a certain topic. Students can help each other with writing assignments by working in groups to brainstorm over their topic. I would assign groups and allow a few minutes of class time for students to get together and help one another explore different ideas. You can also give your students access to Inspiration to provide feedback and ideas. Last semester in one of my kinesiology classes I had to teach a lesson over ancient nations dealing with the foundation of kinesiology. Before the assignment I knew absolutely nothing about the assignment, but after researching on the internet and reading the chapters I had a good understanding of the topic. I also used a powerpoint to help outline and better understand what I would be teaching. After I taught the lesson to the class I knew the information a lot better.
Assessing Meaningful Learning

I have to agree with you Derek, with Inspirations ability of brainstorming, I really like that feature about it. I find that also its ability to insert all sorts of symbols, pictures and music, adds to something awesome students could use towards their projects and learning. Its a great program and whenever I finally get into my own classroom Il will have to incorporate it into lesson plans.
ReplyDeletePowerpoints have actually become popular, especially in bigger schools. Students are having to create PP for their homework assignments and present them in order to get them more involved in school. It is almost like paper and pen are going out of style and technology is stepping in.
ReplyDeleteI agree, I had never heard of Inspiration before either. I also never thought to consider that it could help educators also. They could use it to help design lesson plans for class.
ReplyDeleteHi Derek,
ReplyDeleteI really agree with you. I understand better after I taught the lesson. I don't know why it was like that! :)
Thanks,
CK
I have never heard of Inspiration either. I have used similar programs but this one really stands out to me. I liked how pictures and things could be added in as well. I also liked how everything was on the main screen like the font size and the different kinds of diagrams. A person wouldn't have to search around too much to find what they really needed. Good post!
ReplyDeleteI had never heard of the inspiration either prior to watching this video. I also find it interesting and helpful that it helps students brainstorm. This tool helps expand so many ideas for the students. This for sure would help most with power point presentations since computers are all schools use any more. This system can make it so much easier on a student as far as gathering and grouping information.
